Head of Purchasing (Purchasing Manager) £75,000 - £85,000 bonus up to 15% car Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week SUMMARY The Purchasing department at Scania (Great Britain) Limited (SGB) has the overall responsibility for the sourcing of products and services, which are needed in the Business Unit but not sourced and provided by Scania Sweden. The department has grown in numbers during the last years but also in involvement in SGB's daily business and in providing value to the internal customers in the SGB network and at the Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible to continue this progress leading to Purchasing being an indispensable part of the SGB team, sharing “the game plan” and contributing to its success. The candidate will be heading a team of four Purchasers, and will be reporting to the Finance Director. In addition to the manager's duties the candidate will also have the responsibility for its own purchasing assortment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and coach the Purchasing team of four Purchasers. Proactively thinking of ideas for the future and supporting change across the organisation. Ensure SGB compliance with corporate governance related to sourcing and purchasing in cooperation with SGB management, and other concerned departments. Continue to develop/streamline SGB Purchasing to be considered a valuable and appreciated partner by management and internal customers. Build and maintain good relationship with the internal customers and other stakeholders at Milton Keynes and in the SGB network. Produce SGB Purchasing Market Plan along with purchasing strategies and targets that have been agreed with the internal customer. Proactively manage the supplier base; evaluate and develop the suppliers, nominate preferred suppliers and mitigate risks through Supplier Agreements and assessments. Challenge existing processes, methods and tools with a constructive and positive approach. Work as an integral part of the Purchasing team, and strive for the team's progress and success in negotiations. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Long-term thinking; win-win solutions for the internal customer and the supplier Aware of international structure and culture and create a productive network of contacts across the Group. Independently and proactively take the initiatives to further develop and improve the business. Process oriented; encourage transparent planning with the importance of meeting deadlines. Team coach, leader, and player, strong influencer with the ability to adapt. Project management experience, ideally Prince 2 qualified or similar but not essential. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strategic mindset within a commercial and Purchasing environment. Strong analytical and communication skills. Easily adapt to and take the lead in change. Highly developed problem solving skills.
