Solution Architect FirstPort is the UK's largest residential property manager. We understand that a residential property is more than just bricks and mortar to the people who live there. It's their home, and they expect the highest possible standards of property service, at the most cost effective price. The same is true in how we approach IT. Our IT Solutions must be of the highest standards and introduce simplicity and effectiveness throughout. Our industry is at the precipice of dramatic change driven by new technology and the rapid drive towards IoT. However, to get there we need a considerable amount of hard work and determination to bring us forward from a world of legacy IT. The Solution Architect will be responsible for shaping our new solutions, understanding our start points, defining the target and more importantly the Roadmaps needed to get us there. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Understanding the strategy and needs of the business; Evaluating how the current IT environment contributes to (or hinders) the success of the business; Identifying deficiencies in the existing IT environment and recommending solutions for their improvement; Defining the future solution architecture and associated roadmap; Socialising the future solution architecture with stakeholders, such as the IT team; Requirements capture; Conceptual and detailed solution design; Acting as the custodian of solution and technical standards and ensuring that they're enforced throughout the lifecycle of the project; Providing architectural guidance to the project team; Explaining technical and architectural issues to technical and business stakeholders alike; Identifying and evaluating potential solution options; Documenting all work; Success criteria Pros and cons of the existing IT architecture are fully understood; The future solution design is aligned to the businesses requirements; Design principles are enforced throughout the project; The target business and IT architecture is simplified and where possible costs reduced; Identified business benefits can be delivered by the solution; Key Interfaces Project teams; Operational Leadership and Management across the Property Services, Bespoke and Retirement divisions, as well as back-office support services such as Finance, HR and IT; IT and FSS teams; External suppliers; What kind of person you would be? Education A degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field, or commensurate experience; Enterprise and/or Solution Architecture certification very desirable; Experience A track record of applying Solution Architecture to deliver business benefit Past experience of selecting and implementing IT solutions; Background in property management, facilities management or customer services desirable; Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture; Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes; Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting; Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies; Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and legacy systems; Can understand the internal and external context of FP; Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements; Ability to translate technical information into natural language; Ability to estimate the financial impact of s This job was originally posted as
