The Role

Robert Half are hiring for a Technical Adviser - Accounts and Audit for a leading professional membership body for for accountants. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Central Milton Keynes.

The Technical Adviser - Accounts and Audit will fulfil a 9-5 role where he or she is responsible for providing accurate and timely advice to affiliated accountants who are looking for technical advice on either accounts or audit work.

This work broadly falls into two area - Firstly technical advice on non-standard accounts or audit work the accountants are looking at, and secondly ethical issues relating to the work which the accountants have not come across before.

Responsibilities include:

Understand, diagnose and provide comprehensive practical advice on a wide range of professional matters.

Provide excellent customer service; resolving member enquiries from a variety of channels.

Record enquiries on appropriate recording systems

Maintain a thorough and up to date professional knowledge.

Develop and maintain relationships with specialists in other departments to share knowledge and to develop Technical Advisory Services.

Contribute to teams understanding of members needs and expectations, supporting colleagues in offering the best possible advice and guidance.

Develop material to support members in a multi-media environment.

Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs.

This is a true 9-5 role (or equivalent) so offers an excellent work-life balance whilst also maintaining a good level of remuneration.

About You

The company are looking to hire a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / ICAS) who has a strong technical knowledge of both audit and accounting.

He or she will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be well-organised in order to ensure all queries are replied to in case an instant response is not possible.

The successful applicant may either come from training background with an established higher education / training provider to the accountancy profession, or may be an audit/accounts manager working currently or recently at a medium to large size practice.

If coming from a practice then exposure to the ethics team or experience in training staff would be beneficial, but is not required.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is circa GBP60,000 to GBP65,000 with benefits package including 9% pension contributions and private healthcare.
