Basic qualifications:
PhD or equivalent experience in an analytical/physchem/biophysics field. (Biopharm Analytical Scientist)
Experience of matrix and team membership in a Biotech or Biopharmaceutical environment.
Experience in leading customer-focused assay development especially electrophoretic assays e.g. capillary isoelectric focusing (c-IEF)
Good knowledge of CMC-relevant liabilities of Biopharmaceutical molecules.
Good understanding of ICH guidelines for analytical method development, analytical method qualification and validation. Knowledge and understanding of critical quality attributes is desireable..
Demonstrated innovator in Biopharmaceutical analytical sciences.
First-Class communications (oral, aural, written).
Experience in multi-project work packages.

Within the GSK Biopharmaceutical R&D Unit we are committed to the research, development and commercialisation of a highly novel pipeline of biopharmaceutical-based therapies to treat unmet medical needs. The Biopharmaceutical Product Development and supplies (BPDS) group are a new Department within GSK comprising approximately 60 Staff in the UK group. This department is dedicated to the identification of best-in-class, readily industrialised biopharmaceuticals, the development of cognate cell lines, processes and formulations, and the transfer of such into a CTM Manufacturing environment. BPDS operate as a single-team aligned with those of our key partners in Biopharm Medicine Discovery based within the same state-of-the-art Biopharm facilities at GSK-Stevenage.

We have a vacancy for an Analytical Scientist within our Analytical & Characterisation group. Your expertise in electrophoretic assay development such as cIEF using iCE280 and iCE3 technology will be key for this role to provide analytical data on therapeutic protein characterisation, stability studies and supporting early phase degradation studies. You will also be involved in physicochemical and biophysical characterisation, elucidating the primary degradation pathways of our therapeutic proteins and reporting of data from such studies. Basic understanding of formulation development is desirable.

Demonstrates good technical expertise and working familiarity with a number of methods, techniques and procedures including working to GMP standards.

Has a good understanding of analytical chromatography and electrophoresis techniques and expertise in setting up, running and troubleshooting them. Shows experience and understanding of working with therapeutic proteins.
